Sri Sri Ayurveda Anti Dandruff Shampoo Review

Dandruff is a common hair problem these days, with the increasing air pollution, hard water, stress levels and all such issues. Especially in a highly polluted city like Bangalore, it is year round trouble, add to it the “hardest” water that you can ever find. Sometimes I shudder seeing the kind of residue it leaves on my glassware, cookware..Imagine what must be happening to the skin and hair??

I never had dandruff problem till the time I started living here, but once I was here it became a permanent trouble. I tried many things to keep the scalp problem at bay – some things gave a temporary relief and some flopped miserably.

Some of the things that helped me to a large extent were:

Schwarzkopf Anti Dandruff Shampoo

L’Oreal Professionel Hair Spa+Power Ampule shots Treatment(Done once a month)

Urad+Mustard hair pack – great remedy, but the stink would make you puke.

Now coming to the point, I happened to visit one of the centres of Sri Sri Ayurveda around 2 months back and found a lot of skin care products in their range. I have used many of their ayurvedic supplements and in fact have found them genuine as well as super effective. So I decide to give some products a try and my first choice was the Anti Dandruff shampoo.

Sri Sri Ayurveda-effective herbs Anti Dandruff Shampoo with Conditioner – For all hair types

Ingredients
Kumari(Aloe barbadensis), Nimba(Azadirachta Indica), Nimbuka(Citrus medica), Japakusuma(Hibiscus Rosasinensis), Oils of -Narikela(cocos nucifera), Vatada(Prunus Amygdalus) and preservatives.

What the product claims?
Sri Sri Ayurveda Anti Dandruff Shampoo is enriched with the natural goodness of Lemon, Hibiscus, and Neem. The anti dandruff and anti fungal properties of Hibiscus and Neem are tough on dandruff and gentle on the scalp. Lemon tightens the cuticles and cleanses every strand of your hair.

Usage
Apply to wet hair and lather.Leave for a minute or two and rinse. Repeat if necessary.

What it does?
The product is has a consistency lighter than that of a body lotion and has a mild herbal fragrance. Once applied on wet hair, it does not lather much like a soap based shampoo and you would need a little bit more than the usual especially if you have longer hair.

The product lasted me for around a month or so and by the end of it I was almost completely flake free and my hair looked good too 🙂

At first it was quite unbelievable, but then it was true. There was absolutely no scalp irritation or itching and hair looked glossy and healthy. It was actually a very happy development for me as my search for a gentle, yet effective product had succeeded.
All in all the product lived up to its claims 🙂

My earlier experience with Himalaya Protein Shampoo was a miserable one. Though they claimed it to be 100% herbal and all, it caused severe head aches for me and also made my hair rough like coconut husk.

What I liked?

One of the first ever products I have tried which totally did what it claimed.

Mild product without any harshness or soapy feeling.
Fully herbal product without any harsh surfactants and only probably some preservatives for shelf life.
Gives a healthy gloss to the hair.
The products are not tested on animals.
What I did not like?
There is absolutely no complaints about the product quality as such. But the packaging could have been better though. The bottle is actually an inverted one, with the flip top opening at the bottom and the shape is such that it has to rest in that inverted position. Since the product is quite runny, this is kind of uncomfortable and causes wastage. To use, you may need to turn the bottle downside up, wait for a moment and then open and use. This is not actually a con, but I wish they do something about the bottle design.
Price : Now this is the best part..It retails for INR 70 for 100 ml.
Would I re purchase?  Well…definitely yes!!
Note :The write up on the bottle says that the proceeds from the sale of Sri Sri Ayurveda products, goes to fund the rural and social welfare projects of The Art of Living. I went through the website and am quite impressed with their initiatives and projects. So that earns one extra brownie point for “Beauty with a Cause”. You may buy their products online from here.
