Pre Wedding Skin Care – Homemade Ubtan

Monsoon showers are almost gone and it is the time of celebrations – festivals, weddings etc.

Remember the pre wedding skin care series we had done last year?

Read all about it here

1) Papaya for Clear skin

2) Amla for healthy hair

3) Supple skin

4) Anti acne/pimple

In continuation, this time I have a recipe for home made ubtan for the brides to be.

I made this ubtan about 2 weeks back and have used it atleast twice a week.

Here is the recipe

Powdered Green Gram(moong) – 3 cups

Green gram powder is one of the best natural exfoliant and cleanser for the skin. A paste of this powder with water/milk is an excellent exfoliant, yet gentle on the skin. In our hometown, babies are normally bathed using this paste instead of baby soap after an oil massage.

Bridal Beauty Tip(3) – Supple Skin

A simple home treatment for soft and supple skin for a bride. Take some olive oil in a cup (Adjust quantities as per your requirement).

Warm the oil on stove top or in a microwave oven.
Add one or two drops of Sandalwood Essential Oil to the olive oil. Mix well and apply all over the body in swift movements. Keep massaging till the oil is almost fully absorbed by the skin.

Bridal Beauty Tip(2) – Amla for healthy scalp and lustrous hair

A bride should look totally beautiful and glowing on her wedding day. This not only includes her face and body, but her teeth and hair too.

Here is a simple tip for lustrous hair + no dandruff scalp. A hair pack using two of the most easily available ingredients in the Indian kitchen.

Amla(Indian Gooseberry) + Milk

 +
How to use it

Take 3 or 4 medium sized amla/gooseberries and poke with a fork making a lot of deep dents in the fruit.  Soak the gooseberries in about a cup of milk at night. The next day, cut the gooseberries and remove the seed. Grind the berries in a mixer along with the same milk used for soaking. Make a fine paste. Apply this paste on scalp for about 20 – 25 minutes and wash it off using luke warm water. Try to avoid shampoo atleast on the day you have applied the pack. If you are very particular, you may use a very mild ayurvedic shampoo.

Manicure at home

I hope you all enjoyed the Home Facial last week..what next?

A manicure is defined as a “cosmetic treatment for the finger nails and hands, performed at a professional beauty salon or at home”.

The perfect manicure consists of the following steps:

You may need to get together a few essential items before starting the manicure. The main thing is a manicure kit.

The kit consists of the following items(L to R in the pic above)
