New Products at The Body Shop – Wild Rose Handcare and Strawberry Perfume

Haven’t we all loved and cherished the Strawberry range from The Body Shop? Atleast I used to love it…and still do. Have used up umpteen number of tubes of the Strawberry Body Polish. Do you wish to have the fragrance linger on a little more than what the body polish does?

The good news is they have launched a Eau De Toilette for the same..Yay!!!

I was at the store to check out the Extra Virgin Mineral Foundation range and came across these beauties.

Price – INR 1095/-

And if you want to extend the Strawberry experience, they also have a gift pack option available:

Price – INR 3795/-

WILD ROSE HAND CARE RANGE

Wild Rose Hand Cream

Price – INR 725/- for 100ml and INR 415/- for 30ml

Wild Rose Caring handwash

Price – INR 515/-

The floral pink packaging of the hand cream reminded me of the L’occitane ones. The first hand impression of the fragrance isn’t great. But then I had sniffed around so many things..So, may be I need to check out again with a fresh nose 😛
Have you checked out any of these yet? Looks like they are coming up with good offers around Christmas. So…Stay Tuned!

Bourjois Effet 3D Lipgloss 65 Cassis Petillant-Swatches,Photos,Review

So, while I was fighting away the lip irritation(courtesy lakme palette), I made some awesome lip product acquisitions. Here is one of them

What they say about the product:
PEOPLE WITH SENSITIVE EYES, BEWARE! BOURJOIS PUSHES THE LIMITS OF SHINE WITH EFFET 3D MAX LIPGLOSS UP TO 33% MORE SHINE!**
INSTRUMENTAL TEST AGAINST THE MAIN LIPGLOSSES ON THE MARKET IN 2008(30 VOLUNTEERS RATED SHINE SATISFACTION OVER 3 WEEKS: 90% SATISFACTION)
Dazzling shine thanks to the smoothing formula with shine micro-activators. The shine micro-activators form a flexible and ultra comfortable film: lips are smoothed and radiant with softly shimmering colours that enhance your smile.
The Swatch

Packaging
Is a sleek, yet curvy bottle. The applicator is a small petal shaped plastic one and is flat. It has been a while since I did a review and the thought of clicking the applicator pic totally slipped from the mind. Sorry about that.
What they claim about the applicator
Bourjois added bonus* : the clever applicator !

Thanks to its reservoir areas, the applicator generously coats lips for an incredibly volumised pout. Its perforated area means both sides of the applicator evenly spread the formula. Lips are left beautifully smooth and defined with maximum volume.

The Likes

▲ Nice, gentle fragrance.
▲ Sleek, yet curvy shape of the bottle.
▲ Shimmer is very fine and not at all gritty.
▲ Gloss is absolutely smooth flowing and not sticky at all. The finish it gives to the lips is awesome.
▲ No settling in fine lines and all.
The Dis Likes
▼ My only complaint about the gloss is the applicator. Total disagreement with the concept. The perforated, petal like plastic thingie just picks up too much of product and application is not so easy as they claim. I personally feel that the good old brush or doe foot would have done a much more wonderful job.
Once the gloss is applied(which is definitely going to be excess), you need to just slightly rub your lips together. This helps the gloss to kind of spread evenly. And this also pushes the excess gloss to the edges of your lips. Wipe it off with a tissue and you are set to go. In short, this doesn’t work so well if you are in a hurry (atleast for me).
But otherwise, it is a lovely collection and looks like a pocket friendly must have especially with a good range of shades.
Quantity – 6.5 ml
Price – Approximately INR 600/-
G.&.G Rates it at – ❤❤❤❤+.5
Purchase again? Yeah…But if somebody from Bourjois is listening…Pleaseeee consider changing the applicator.

Freshly Hauled – De stressing with Forest Essentials and Thann

More than 3 months of hectic travel, events and stressful happenings at home, my body and mind were shouting to me – STRESSED!!

An hour of meditation daily took care of the mind…but the body required more pampering. I wanted something natural and exotic and the brands that came to mind were – Kama Ayurveda, Forest Essentials, L’Occitane and Thann.

Kama – I am almost done with the brand…Not that I didn’t like their products, but the very thought that they were just using the products developed mostly by Arya Vaidya Pharmacy, Coimbatore was a downer. The place kinda neighbourhood for us and it is always possible to get their stuff at a much lower price and that too from the source.

L’Occitane – To reach their store, I had to go through Hosur Road traffic…need I say more??

So Thann and Forest Essentials it was. Since both the stores are located just about a few hundred feet away, there was absolutely no confusion.

From L to R - Forest Essentials Narangi and Nagkesar Facial Ubtan, Mashobra Honey and Vanilla Bath And Shower Oil, Mashobra Honey and Vanilla Hair Cleanser.

Narangi and Nagkesar Facial Ubtan
The next best to “fresh” is the “dehydrated” where everything in the herb remains intact, only the water content is removed. The finest quality herbs that are used in these powders are pure and unadulterated. Therefore, wherever practical, it is beneficial to use the dehydrated herb. When juices, milk, yogurt or rose water is added to these powdered herbs they are “hydrated” and the fullest benefits of these natural products in their entirely may be had. Perhaps not as fresh as nature intended, but closest to nature, the next best thing.Instant Radiance, Firming and Toning

Lavishes your skin with rich restorative moisture. The base of pure cow’s milk ‘ghee’ helps enhance intercellular adhesion instantly and provides extraordinary smoothness and suppleness to the skin. With regular massage the skin acquires a noticeably soft resilient and ‘plumped’ quality, and a radiant glow or “Tejas”. Suitable for all skin types.
Hair Cleanser – Mashobra Honey and Vanilla
These gently cleansing shampoos with Amla juice, Ritha, Soya protein, Coconut Oil and herbal infusions give natural shine, swing and fragrance.
Nourishing Shine Enhancing
This shampoo contains Amla Juice, Reetha , Soya Protein, Coconut Oil, Herbal Infusions and Organic Honey and Vanilla Essential Oil gives natural shine, swing and fragrance.
THANN
Thann is a natural hair and skin care brand from Thailand. They have only one store in India and that is in Bangalore. Tucked away in the resplendent UB City Mall, it is a cute little corner shop with spa like ambience to it.
UB City is a regular hangout for me when in town as there is an added advantage of hub’s office in the same building 😉 The Apple Store, Good Earth and Bliss Chocolate lounge are some of my favourite haunts in UB City and Thann is one place I always wanted to check out. The mesmerizing aroma from the aromatic diffusers and soaps and lotions is very attractive. And this time, I just went ahead and made a small haul from there too.
As to what I bought from Thann, that deserves another post..
Btw, did you like my Forest Essentials haul? Do write in your thoughts about the same…and yeah about the new template as well.

Product gone wrong – Lakme Lip Palette

After a disappointing stint with my last Lakme purchase(9 to 5 lipstick) years back, I was keeping away from the brand for a while.

Then we saw a huge change in the brand – new products, packaging etc etc and my trust was slowly coming back.

When I decided to start buying Lakme products again, I played safe by going for eye and face products – Lakme Satin Kajal, Lash Artist Mascara, Eye Quartet, Perfect radiance compact etc.

As the confidence built up, I decided on getting the famous lip palette after reading so many reviews and thinking of the compactness convenience and all that jazz.  This is when reality hit me on the head again.

I purchased this palette from a New U store after ensuring it was very much in the “fresh condition/period”. It lay idle in my vanity for almost 2 weeks and finally one day I thought of trying. And there i go swatching and trying on the shades in it. That evening, I used one of the shades when I went to the nearby store for maybe around an hour. All this while, I started experiencing some kind of irritation on my lips – not itching, but sort of a slightly burning sensation.

Now, my only thought was to get back home and remove the lippie. At home, I removed it using some cleansing milk and there was no problem. The real shocker came to me the next morning. As I looked into the mirror, I see lot of whitening on my lips..not spots, but crack like appearances. At first, I thought it was my extra dry lips playing up and applied some olive oil throughout the day. Then went on an exfoliating routine, thinking the dry skin on lips should go away…But to my utter dismay, the whitening remained and I was literally in tears.

Everyday, I would watch my lips closely(praying to all powerful forces) and find no improvement at all. The thought that my lips could be scarred for life was even more frightening. Atlast, I decided on a self imposed ban on (on using…not on buying ;-)) lip stick/ gloss till the time I am cured.

All this while I used only olive oil, lipice lip balm and bio fruit lip balm( when a li’l bit of tint was needed). Exfoliated atleast thrice a week( **still continuing prayers to the Higher Forces**)

Finally after 2 whole months of no lipstick/ gloss( I did try Revlon CB and Bourjois in between just for a few minutes before I bought them), my lips are back in shape. The white marks have totally gone and there are no other irritations.

Was it my lips reacting to the product or was it a spoilt batch of products? I still wonder…But thankful at heart for being able to get rid of the problem.

And now, like a cat who fell into cauldron of hot water, I am far away from Lakme lip products…and I don’t think I would ever buy them or use them anymore.

Hope my lovely readers are doing good :-))

For me, its been a mixed bag. Work is going on good, but a family member met with a bad accident and it was a terrible phase for all of us. Thank god, he is better now and on his way back to recovery, though slowly.
