Revlon Colorstay Overtime Lipcolor, Swatches, Review and MAGIC

Hello everyone 🙂

When Poornima sent me this lipstick, I was all over the place…jumping n everything because the colour was just so pretty!! When I tried it on, it made me look like I had smoked cigarettes since I was a baby! :O
The colour was so not what it appeared to be on the outside! I sighed and kept it on because I was only going out with my girlfriend for some icecream, my fiance didnt need to see me and wonder why I smoked after annoying him not to! 😉
I’m glad I did, because the staying power on this lipstick is phenomenal!! I was out for around 2hours, the major part of which, we spent eating, actually gorging over “Nutty Professor” from Baskin Robbins (yup, I see the nods and the smiles on your faces, its soo dee-lish right?!).The best part was that even when I came home my lips still looked the same and when I removed it using my cleansing milk after around 4hours, it came right off with no icky remnants of any sort and the quantity that came off was pretty much what I’d applied! So full marks on that front 🙂
I’m sure staying power is the biggest necessity for most of us so its great there!! The rest I’l bullet for you 🙂
  • Did not leave my lips dry after I applied the transparent gloss that comes with it.
  • I didn’t have to reapply AT ALL.
  • The doe-foot applicator makes applying this very convenient.
  • The transparent gloss is not sticky.

Now for the not so good,

  • The transparent gloss comes with a brush applicator which is a pet peeve for me, because the gloss gets all around my mouth when I’m in a hurry 😦
  • This particular shade “Faithful Fawn” is not what it appears from the outside.
So, as I badly wanted to utilize the awesome staying power on this baby, I experimented (which is what I do whenever I’m all studied out!) and I am proud to say, it was a success!! yayy!

Bright orangey coral(on me) Mango mania from Avon + unwearable smoking-since-centuries Faithful Fawn by Revlon
(on everyone) = a beautiful neutral colour, with just enough coral for me to happily carry it off 🙂 🙂 Ta Daa!
So, my rating for this line of lipsticks would be a 4/5. For this particular colour 2/5 (because it barely qualifies as a colour).
Hope you enjoyed reading this!
Lots of love, peace and happiness,
Keerthi

Online Shopping – Violetbag.com experience

Looks like the shopping gods have heard every makeup crazy Indian girl’s prayer…Yes prayers for some good sites to shop.

I am sure you remember our intro posts to some shopping sites spotted. Read all about it here.

Now, this is all about a new entrant to the league – Violet Bag. I was quite excited to get an opportunity to review their services.

A little about the venture

VioletBag is the venture of a self-driven and committed team of IIT/IIM graduates who founded VioletBag.com after having built another flourishing e-commerce startup. In addition to their experience in eCommerce, the VioletBag team, after successful career stints in leading companies, brings in expertise from areas like technology, product development, operations, finance and marketing. As is evident from their diverse backgrounds, each team member brings a unique set of capabilities to the table. As a group, they have valued these differences and have encouraged each other to question, create and experiment in their pursuit of excellence. However, the inimitable strength of the team lies in each individual’s ability to work independently and in their ability to build things from scratch. A deep sense of ownership has resulted in considerable throughput during the initial phases of development and roll-out; and as they go forward, it is their aim to continue building on these values and strengths in new members as well as within the organization.

Brands they Offer

Olay, Vega, L’Oreal, Garnier, Lakme, Pond’s. VLCC, Calvin Klein, Lotus Herbals, Wella Kolestint, Biotique, Maybelline, Neutrogena and many perfume brands like Issey Miyake, Escada, Davidoff and many many more.

The site accepts various modes of payment to make your experience with us more enriching. Here is a list of payment options:

Credit Card, Debit Card, Netbanking – Axis Bank, HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank, J & K Bank, Citibank, Federal Bank, Cash Card – ITZ Cash, Cash on Delivery (COD)

According to the company, they have partnered with multiple courier providers for shipment of orders and based on the customer’s location, they ship the order through any one of them.

My Experience
I placed an order on their website last Saturday. As soon as the order was placed, I received a call from their customer care confirming the order as I had opted for a Cash on Delivery option. There was also an accompanying email sent confirming the order.

On Tuesday morning, I received an email from them saying the package was shipped. The delivery was quite fast, considering the fact that it was holiday season due to navratri. I received the package on Thursday.

The products were all packed individually in bubble wrap and then in a box which was wrapped in cling film.

Tight packed with thermocol cubes to prevent damages in transit.

Wanna see what I purchased?

All in all, I liked the online shopping experience and customer care provided by the site. Above all that, the way they deal with the customer is very professional. I have had some unprofessional behaviour from  sites like Fashion and You. So, this was a feel good factor for me.
The Good
Almost all major skin care and makeup brands are available
Discounts on products.
Fresh stocks (ie no near to expiry stuff and all)
Quick and Professional service.
Multiple payment options for the customer.
Would I recommend the site to others? Yes
From what I observed, they are definitely working towards increasing the brands they sell. When I shopped, many like Biotique, Vega etc were missing. But now they have been added, which is a positive development.

Will post swatches and reviews soon…Lots of events happening before Diwali and I’m running short of time like crazy :-))
Meanwhile, do check out the latest collections added at Swaram and a lots more coming up before Diwali.

Info – Shopping voucher provided by brand. But our opinion is honest as always as our priority is always you.

Kerastase Chronologiste Treatment at Jean Claude Biguine

Remember my visit to the Jean Claude Biguine Salon a few weeks back??

As I told you earlier, after analysis, my hair was detected to be medium oily with little flakiness. This is due to my constant travel and washing my hair in water from different places.

The Kerastase Chronoligiste treatment
Because-day after day-hair endures the damaging effects of time(the drying and weakening induced by UVs, repeated colour treatments and pollution), La Recherche Avancee L’Oreal sought inspiration in the unique revitalizing properties of caviar. The source of natural life to create an exceptional care treatment.
The moment I heard caviar, it was like eeewwwww….Nooooo. Then Nikhita assured me that it was just the essence of caviar recreated with synthetic enzymes.
The treatment pack getting mixed
Enjoyed the hair treatment with hot lemongrass-green tea.yummm…
The hair – All glossy, smooth and clean after the treatment :-))
My take on the treatment
The likes
1) My hair usually turns limp after about a day of washing. But after I took this treatment, the hair was bouncy and nice for a longer period even after shampooing.
2) Evident reduction in hairfall rate which lasted for almost a month.
3) Hair felt smooth ie visible improvement in texture which was also a major concern for me.
The dislikes
1) The effects were not too long lasting. But I am not too sure about that because it is a treatment. Probably a few more sittings are needed for the same to show permanent results.
2) The treatment is priced on the higher side.
Other than that I just loved the experience as a person loving hair treatments and since I also don’t like compromising on quality.
Would I take the treatment again?
Yes…..I personally would love to treat my hair maybe once a month.
Recommend it to others?
Well….as for the quality of the treatment, YES. If you are on a budget, you may take the treatment in case of any special occassions. In case you don’t mind spending around INR 2000 for your hair, it will be a good monthly treat for your manes.
PS – Visit and treatment facilitated by brand for review purposes. However, my review is honest as always.

Fantastic Plum-tastic, cheesy but true!

Yup! I’m talking about Maybelline Colorsensational gloss, Plumtastic! I bought it a month ago and still cant stop gushing over it. It is my first gloss from this range and I love it so much that it’s definitely not going to be my last! I made a bullet list of it’s features so you can decide for yourself if it is for you or not.

PLumtastic+4.jpg

Shade number 415, gives 6.8ml of product.

Plumtastic+3.jpg

It’s the perfect pink on me, looks good by itself and also when worn over a lipstick or lip tint, which is how I usually wear it.  When worn by itself, it wears off after 3 hours but does leave behind a pinkish hue which gives you enough time for a touch-up without anyone having noticed 😉

Exfoliation can be defined as the removal of the oldest and topmost layer of dead skin cells using natural or chemical products and processes. I love to exfoliate my skin atleast every second day and have used varieties of scrubs for the same purpose.

Shahnaz Husain’s Shascrub and Natures Gold Skin Radiance Gel-Review

Shahnaz Husain and her range of products are considered to be the ultimate of beauty and skin care in India. Atleast it was like that a few years ago. Even now, in smaller towns, Shahnaz Parlours are a rage and considered to be the ultimate..You must be wondering why such a long introduction. Well I am coming to it. Here I am going to review 2 products from that range which I bought some time back.

ShaScrub

Review

The product seems like a very creamy scrub which has a pearlescent texture and with even granules of Walnut or whatever. I used the product as per the instruction and wash it off and what do I see? My skin feels so taut and dry. Now let me give you a little background on this. I regularly exfoliate my skin and have used the mildest Everyuth scrub to St.Ives to Himalaya Herbals Exfoliator and also Aroma Magic Mineral Scrub.. None of these products have left my skin so dry. My skin did feel squeaky clean, but it was not a nice clean feeling. It felt like I washed my face with detergent rather than a scrub. I still harbored hopes and continued using it. After many usages, my skin reacted to the product in the same way as before and I knew it was definitely not my skin having PMS, but the product. But I had spent a whopping amount of INR 235 for 40 gms of it and how could I throw it away. After much thought, it went to my pedicure kit and one session of home pedicure and it was over..Thank God!!

The fragrance is quite strong in notes of Coconut and Lemon(smells more like synthetic lemongrass than original EO).
